This is still the case, as we shall see while reviewing a series of songs related to the historical Sufi tradition along the Indus. The poetry and music that emerged from Sufi circles along the river is therefore largely a result of the theological, political and social tensions between Sufis and the orthodox ulema and clerics. Historically, the strand of Sufism which emerged on the banks of Indus (especially in Punjab and all the way across Sindh), consciously eschewed religious orthodoxy and, at times, even rebelled against it. Rather those preaching Islam in the region - especially from the 12th century onward - absorbed existing cultural traditions that had evolved for thousands of years along the river, and, in turn, expressed them through the more esoteric strands of Islam (Sufism). A commonality was not attempted on the basis of a homogenous or monolithic idea of faith and culture here. Each of these religions were indigenised.Įven though Islam has become the major faith along the Indus in the last 500 years, the dynamic history of the region has kept cultures largely heterogeneous and varied. Over the centuries, a wide variety of cultures, languages and religions have sprung up on both sides of the Indus.įive thousand years from the moment the first major civilisation emerged along the Indus, till the creation of Pakistan in 1947, various religions and cultures have thrived here: Animism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Islam. Though it originated in the Tibetan Plateau in China, much of it flows across Pakistan. #Naz khialvi tum ek gorakh dhanda ho full
The room is full of books and u will find Naaz sahib always either reading something or writing something. It is just a room without any furniture or bath room etc. He lives in a rented one room accommodation in Tandlianwala. These incidents show that Naaz sahib is a financially depressed person, like Mirza Ghalib. In reply Niazi gave about 4000 rupees to Naaz sahib and he was more than happy. Naaz sahib asked Niazi that why he sung his poetry without his permission. Same way Ata Ullah Niazi sung two cassettes comprising poetry of Naaz shaib. How much revenue this qavali has earned? No body knows, it was a record breaking selling album. Naaz sahib did it for very little amount of money for Nusrat. Somebody told him about Naaz sahib and he met Naaz sahib and requested personaly to write a qavaali for him. Nusrat sahib belongs to Faisalabad and he had relations with radio people also. "Tum Ik Gorakh Dhanda hoo" was just a routine poetry for Naaz shaib, but became special due to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. His poetry has reached the level of "miraaaj" but the media is in control. Naaz sahib is of 55 years age (aprox) but he is still unmarried. The program is being broadcasted from Radio Faisalabad. His only source of income is a punjabi radio program "sandhal Dharti" which he is hosting since many years. As he bolongs to a remote area, therefore he got less chances to come in lime light. Naaz Khialvi is doing Urdu and Punjaabi poetry since last 30 years (aprox). Tandlianwala is 60 miles aways from Faisalabad. Khiaali is about 5 Km away from Tandlianwala which is tehsil of Distric Faisalabad. Real name Muhammad Siddique, Takhalus Naaz and known as Naz Khialvi due to reason that he belongs to a village named as "Khiaali".
